What’s DTF ?
DTF (Direct To Film) printing, or direct-to-film printing, is a relatively new technology designed to overcome the limitations and challenges of other textile customization methods, such as screen printing.
Used to customize a wide variety of garments and gadgets, imprinting images, logos, and text onto different materials. This method offers remarkable versatility, reducing costs and perfectly adapting also to small and medium-scale productions.
This technique enables high-resolution image printing, including color gradients and intricate details, directly onto a special PET (polyethylene terephthalate) adhesive film.
A specialized printer applies the primary CMYK printing colors, followed by a uniform white layer, which serves both as a base and as a fifth color.
The transparent adhesive film with colors is then treated with a special adhesive powder, which bonds directly to the ink. This way, we provide you with a ready-to-apply finished product.
How to transfer DTF onto fabric?
The DTF sheet we provide is ready to be transferred onto various textile supports, including clothing and gadgets. The process is simple:
- Place the film on the fabric with the design facing up.
- Use a heat press to apply even pressure and heat (10 seconds at 150°C).
- Remove the film.

When is DTF printing the best choice?
For the production of small to medium quantities, DTF printing is suitable for any type of fabric, whether stretchable or not, including backpacks, jackets, bags, and caps. It is ideal when customization involves specific areas of the garment and the design is highly complex and detailed.
How many colors can it reproduce?
It can reproduce any color and gradient, using cyan, magenta, yellow, and black inks, with the addition of white. The colors are particularly vivid and bright.
How long does it last?
DTF printing offers high durability and elasticity, ensuring that the customization does not crack or deteriorate over time and is able to withstand multiple wash cycles without losing quality. The Direct-To-Film system is therefore ideal for customizing garments or objects subject to heavy use and wear.
How is it different from Sublimation?
Sublimation modifies the fabric itself, making it ideal for fully customizing the garment while keeping it breathable. DTF, on the other hand, is a thin adhesive film designed to be applied to specific areas.
